Don't TRY!

Recently I was at an event where a lot of people in attendance had at one time or another Don't Try! Just Focus and Do it!experienced leadership training from an organization called Rapport Leadership International.  Rapport is a different type of leadership training and those who have attended keep a close watch on themselves and others.  One thing they listen for very closely is the word TRY.   While you might feel that TRY shows effort, in Rapport language, TRY is not a good word.

I use the word TRY quite often in my every day dealings.  And for me, this is bad.  For one, it is not good because I am a graduate of Rapport Leadership.   Being a graduate, I know better!  Secondly, it is not good because TRY puts me in a mindset of mediocrity.  "It's OK that I did do my best, at least I tried," runs through my mind as I fall short of my accomplishments and goals.  And instead of correcting myself, I fall prisoner to this line of thinking and fail to accommplish goal, after goal, after goal.  Many of us are like that.  Not just me.

Fortunately, I had those good graduates from Rapport to remind me the other day that TRY is one word that I will eliminate from my vocabulary.

Trying, for me, is never OK.  I want to do!  I want to get it done!  I want to succeed beyond even my wildest dreams.  And, as I travel that journey, I want to help others along the way.  My question to you then is simply, "Are you TRYING or are you DOING?"

If you want to be more successful in life and feel good even about yourself and your accomplishments, then stop trying!  Start doing!  Surround yourself with like-minded people, have them catch you in the act of "TRYING" and challenge you to do.  At Rapport, they have a saying - JFDI - Just Focus and Do it.  That type of thinking has made the world what it is today.  If the great achievers in the world had simply tried, they would have been called "Triers" and not achievers.  Achieve your dreams.  Start today.  STOP TRYING AND START DOING!.
